Textute, Weaving & Hidden

In my Texture Weaving project, I explore how different textures come together to create a whole that is stronger and richer than each element on its own.

I see every society as a dynamic micro-universe shaped by constant transformation. The cultural fabric of Turkey — and the people within it — forms a vibrant, multifaceted, and unique whole. Individuals with different beliefs, rituals, and histories coexist, and through their differences generate a natural and living texture.

In my work, I emphasize both diversity and unity through the materials I select and the forms I weave. The coming together of varied textures into a singular composition reflects how cultures become distinctive and rare. I am attentive to working with natural materials, often those that appear in my path unexpectedly.

Tree and organic, tree-like forms recur in my practice. For me, the tree symbolizes nature and life (the Tree of Life), belief (the Wish Tree), and personal lineage (the family tree). It carries both collective and intimate memory.

Randomness plays a crucial role in my process. By combining natural materials with mixed techniques, I allow the work space to evolve beyond strict control. The piece guides my gestures as much as I shape it. We complete each other.

What emerges is a weaving that is not uniform, but layered and diverse — perceived as a distinct and cohesive whole.
